California: Holly Wood

Elvis Presley's Car

I searched far and wide for Marilyn's star, and finally found it under a board where McDonald's war remodeling...  Needless to say, I wasn't happy

As you can see in this picture, Marilyn's grave was pink though all the other marble graves were white. The reason- Marilyn is so well loved that over the years her adoring fans and their lipstick kisses have permanently stained the marble.
And this-- A picture of how we left our 'mark' on Hollywood! Actually out tour bus got caught and we had to push her out!!

Secret Garden

Another summer day of adventures. Today we decided to take a little trip to town and visit one of our favorite thrift stores and a new thrift store in the area. Our favorite little shop has one of the sweetest workers! She always recognizes us and says hello. Because we've  been going since Birdy was just a tiny baby, this sweet little employer has always loved her and calls her the pink baby. I love it because they always have the sweetest little vintage treasures and the prices are incredible.

The new store was very interesting. It is kind of like a thrift store / estate sale mixture, and the owners go around and purchase items from estate sales that are about to close. They then bring them to their shop and sell them. They have some of the most interesting old furniture and looking at the old phone and camera collections was extremely interesting!

I love this photobook, but unfortunately it wasn't for sale. I can't help but wonder who this sweet little family was, and what their story is. Also the children are simply precious! Their hair and clothing is so sweet.

So Berry Sweet

This darling vintage hat deserves a whole summer wardrobe of outfits. It is simply precious- un'berry'bly so. As soon as I saw the little strawberries adorning the top I knew the first outfit worn with the hat would have to be dedicated to strawberries.I'm the kind of girl who can't help but love to match anything and everything (I also knew that some 'berry' bad puns would have to be 'planted' in...)

Also while picture taking today cute baby Birdy decided to pop in for some pictures. Even though she wasn't in a stitch of clothing she decided that she too would have to pose. And what a little darling she is! The picture below is a candid shot of me laughing at some of her silly faces. Little Brigitta Ruby has brought so much joy into my life! Oh how I love that baby Birdy!

I'm Dotty Deary: A Vintage Refashion

Lately I seem to be gravitating more and more towards vintage clothing and vintage style. I've always loved hats and old jewelry, but now I constantly find myself looking at vintage styles with more and more appreciation.

I'm always told I'm from the wrong decade- But I love vintage clothing and styles and it a part of who I am. I've decided that in the future I want to experiment more with the vintage clothing that I do have.

Also, don't you just love this dress? Once upon a time it was a hideous vest dress, but with a little help from a pair of scissors and a sewing machine I just love how it turned out.
