Emerald Green

Hello dear readers! Life has been so busy lately! Miss Kimberly, NANOWRIMO, Mr. KHS, Senior everything... the list goes on and on! Finally I have been able to take a step back and gain a little bit of control of my life again. (And when I say a little bit I truly mean the smallest amount! Senior projects are due soon, most college applications/ scholarships are due Dec 1, and I have a debate tournament tommorrow and Saturday!)

I hate when times get wild and crazy like this because I tend to become so stressed and overwhelmed- but these times also leave me with so much thankfulness! I am so thankful to all of my family, friends, and leaders who came and supported me in Miss Kimberly. I am especially thankful to my Mother. Without her love and support I would not be who I am. She loves me unconditionally and supports me in all that I do. She never questions my decisions, but is always willing to give me advice. She spent over 30 hours hand beading my formal gown for Miss Kimberly because she wanted to. I hope that I can someday be as good as my Momma!

These last couple of days have also been rather hard. I entered Miss Kimberly because of a sweet lady that I knew. She told me that I was beautiful, talented, and poised, and that I had to do Miss Kimberly. Not only did she insist that I do it, she made me promise her that I would!

I kept my promise and began the Miss Kimberly pageant. Around a month before the actual pageant I found out that she had been hospitalized, and on a particularly crazy day with the pageant (I was presenting my platform and having an interview with the pageant manager) my Mom cooked her and her husband a meal and went to the hospital to visit them. My mom told of how she inspired me to do Miss Kimberly, and the dear told my Mom that I had motivated her to get better so that she could come and see me. My Mom told her that even if she couldn't make it to the pageant that I would come and perform for her or bring her a recording.

That sweet woman passed away two nights ago.

I wish that I would have gone and visited her, just to tell her how much what she said ment to me. I know that she will be accepted by Heavenly Father with open arms, and I am so thankful for the love that she has shown me and my family.

She is so loved and will be missed!

Second Star to the Right, and Straight on Till Morning

I love how sweet and innocent this outfit turned out to be! It reminds me of a mixture of Wendy and Peter Pan! When I was little I used to love to watch Peter Pan because I adored Tinker Bell! I also had Tink's stubborn personality!

Sometimes I just wish that things were as simple as they were when I was little! There was no drama back then, and all of my friends were my friends all of the time! There was never any question in my mind about who was my friend and how they really felt.

Now thing are just harder than they used to be. Its hard to be told by someone that they think you are a snobby, lying gossip especially when you feel as if you haven't done anything wrong. Names really hurt people, and I feel like so many times people say cruel things without really meaning to. I know that I do, and I'm really trying to work on it. I'm also trying to be more understanding, and ultimately, forgiving.

Words from people I love pierce me deeply. I don't usually care about people's opinions, but when it is someone I care about everything changes. We need more kindness in this world, more forgiveness, and more selfless, Christlike, acts.

Sugar and Spice

Warm hues are my Mom's favorite colors on me. She says she loves the way that they make my hair and eyes look. I tend to gravitate more to light pastel colors, or the basic black and white, so when I do wear something like this I do love how it changes things up a little bit. I also like how fallish this outfit looks! Perfect for the changing season.

I love this necklace so much! It is just the cutest! I am a sucker for novelty accessories, and this necklace was no exception. I love the cute little swirl edge to the cake, and the vanilla center. I found this treasure at a thrift store for only $1 because there was only one earring to match it. I was fine with it though, and someday plan on turning the earring to a ring.

Muffin Top

Well hello there! Here I am again displaying my sweater obsession. I absolutely love this cupcake sweater. I found it last year on a Target sales rack for only $6, and almost cried because I loved it so much, but it was a size small. Just as I was about to put it back on the rack I decided to try it on anyway... and it fit perfectly!

It really made me think. Clothing sizes aren't really defining. They aren't who you are. They aren't the size that you really are they are just a letter that you are told is what you can or cannot wear.. They are  a recommendation made by someone else deciding what they think that your certain body type should look wearing what they produced. If they think it should look oversized or baggy that is what they will label it to be. If they want it to look skin tight that is what they make the clothing like. Sizes aren't true. Not all size small shirts are for someone with a 30 inch bust, and not all large shirts are made to fit someone with a 38 inch bust. All sizing is relative.

On the day that I wore this outfit I also found out that there is something going on with my right knee. I wore this darling pair of shoes to school (packing a pair of flats with me of course because I am a klutz and you never know what can happen...), and while I was walking around before school started I felt a sharp pain in my knee, and it felt as if my knee wouldn't support any weight.

I took of my heels and put on the flats I packed and immediately called my mom because I know that my Dad has a history of knee problems. It turns out that I have water on the knee caused from too much walking around (marching band). It is gross because there are squishy parts on my knee... My Dad gets water on the knee a lot, so this didn't come a s a surprise to me, but I did learn that my Mom gets sliding knee caps. Ugh. So if it wasn't one it would be the other!

Lost At Sea

Bonjour! I cannot believe that there is only a few days left of summer and then...  I am a senior! What??
I love this outfit even though it is somewhat more fall looking than summer. It was perfect with the weather that we have been having lately. It has been so chilly and this was warm enough to keep me comfortable.

Usually I am not a  huge fan of chevron stripes- they are somewhat masculine to me- but this dress is the exception. I love it! It is enough rough and soft to be perfect.

Outfit Details:
Beret- Borrowed from Momma
Necklace-  Fuego
Dress- Down East Basics (From Aunt Nancy)
Shoes- Garage Sale (Originally Payless)

I'm not the hugest fan of this photo- but whatever, it captures my sweet necklace perfectly. Also- I am in love with this lip stick! The color is Just Garner... and it is from Wet N' Wild! Yes, that means that this gorgeous shade only cost $.93!

I should have been a WAF

Isn't this little outfit darling! It was the first time that I was able to wear my new hat and I absolutely love how the outfit turned out. Even though it is monochromatic it still looks so rich and put together.
I love how 1940's The outfit all looked together. Also- Aren't these shoes the MOST darling shoes you have ever seen?! I found them at a thrift store while in Utah, and I couldn't wait to wear them. They are made out of an almost men's suit type material and the bow is so irresistibly cute!

And isn't this hat even more charming on!

Outfit Details: Hat- Vintage (thrifted), Earrings- Vintage, Jacket- Aunt Nancy, Pin- Hobby Lobby, Top- Aunt Jenner, Skirt- Borrowed from Mom, Shoes- Thrifted

I love this pin, and it  definitely adds to the 1940's wartime styling of this outfit, and the Women in the Air Force reference...

" I wish every young woman would know and understand that your beauty- your shine- does not lie in makeup, gooey cream, or the latest clothing or hairstyles. It lies in your personal purity...
You can have a powerful impact in the world.

Matryoshka

Isn't this little purse the most darling thing you have ever seen?! I love it so much. Growing up my grandma Vicki had a set of Russian nesting dolls at her house. I loved them so much and every time that I went to her house they were my favorite thing to play with.  The whole time I was there I would hold the beautiful matryoshka dolls, and I would even put them in the room that I was sleeping in when I would go to bed. On more than one occasion Grandma asked me if I wanted to take them home, but they were one of those things that made Grandma's house special, and so I always refused.
I wore this to church while we were on vacation because I had to throw something together quickly, and I grabbed this lovely purse while running out of the door because it is the perfect size to hold some lipgloss, my phone, some handkerchiefs, and a pen or two. I'm so glad I did! It pulls the whole look together. I love the many colors that I can pair this skirt with (pink, dusty rose, brown, cream, purple, burgundy...) because I never end up wearing the same outfit twice with it!

Outfit Details: Earrings- Rue 21, Crochet Collar- Made by me, Top- Second Hand Shop, Skirt- Down East Basics, Shoes- T.J. Maxx, Purse- Garage Sale (FOR ONLY 10 CENTS!!!)

Lately I have been thinking a lot about the woman in Proverbs 31 (hence the scriptures). I want to be that type of woman! Every passage reminds me of my Grandma Coco (I wrote of her here). I want to be like my Coco so much! She is my example and I love and admire her so much! All she did was for others and her legacy truly was of love. I want to be like that and I am trying to be more like the woman Proverbs 31 describes because it perfectly describes Coco.

Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. -Proverbs 31:30
